5 Questions About Storing Your RV

Are you done traveling in your RV for the season and now need a place to store it? If so, here are some questions you'll probably have about using an RV storage facility.

Will The RV Storage Facility Be Covered?

Find out if the facility offers RV storage that is covered, or if the vehicle is out in the open. Ideally, you want to use a covered RV storage facility to make sure that the vehicle does not have to be exposed to the harsh elements of the winter weather.

Is The RV Storage Facility Climate Controlled?

Some people prefer to have a climate-controlled storage facility, which will prevent them from having to cover the RV with a tarp and potentially deal with mold and mildew growth on the vehicle. By using a climate-controlled storage facility, you don't have to worry about any damage being caused to the body during the winter.

Will You Have Access To Your Vehicle At Any Time?

Some RV facilities are closed off to public use. You put the RV into storage and you don't see the vehicle again until you take it out. This may be problematic if you need access to your RV during the offseason for things like wanting to make repairs or clean the inside of the vehicle. Find out if you will have access to the RV at any time, and if you are limited to certain hours while the storage facility is open.

How Is The RV Storage Facility Secured?

No matter if the storage facility is outdoor or indoors, you'll want to find out how the facility is secured. If it's outdoors, find out only certain people have access to the facility, such as other renters. Ask if there are security cameras or anybody that remains on-site to protect the vehicles during the day or night. Indoor facilities are a little easier to lock down, but find out if there are similar security measures in place.

Is There Access To Electricity?

You may need electricity while the RV is in storage to charge a battery or to perform work on your RV. Find out if you can easily get electricity to the vehicle, or if you are required to bring a generator. Access to electricity can make maintaining your RV a lot easier while it is in storage.

Still, have questions? Ask your local RV storage facility for more information.
