How Difficult Is It To Get A Moving Company's Help Last Minute?

In a perfect world, a move would be an anticipated thing that you knew about several months in advance, so you would have all kinds of time to pack, prepare, and schedule help. However, things in life are rarely as reliable as you would like them to be, even when it comes to moving.

You could find out that you have to move to be close to a family member, because of a work opportunity, or even because of a relationship change and have just days to prepare. If this is the case, you will probably be wondering if it is possible to get a moving company's help at the last minute. Here are a few things you should know.

Some moving companies do offer priority services.

If you are lucky enough to have a moving company in your area who offers priority services or emergency moving services, you should not have much of an issue finding help at the last minute. These companies require little to no notice at all because they tend to have a larger fleet of moving vehicles available as well as people to help. Therefore, if you have to have everything moved within a few days, you should have no issues getting the help you need.

Some moving companies offer moving help at the last minute, but not moving trucks.

If you are really in a pinch, you can usually rent your own moving truck, but then you are left with the quandary of finding people who can help you actually load your items. Even if a moving company does not have vehicles available, they may have professional movers available who will help you solely with the moving aspect of the job at hand. You may even be able to hire professionals to help you pack.

Some moving companies can refer you to other moving companies who can help.

Customer service is a top priority for professional moving companies, and most will hate to hear that a potential customer is in a bind and they cannot help because of the short notice. Even if a company you call cannot provide their services, they may be able to refer you to other moving companies who can. It is not uncommon for different moving companies to keep tabs on each other and even associate with each other when there are customers who need something one of them can't provide.
